Rescue Dog Training and Adoption Readiness in Tulsa
I’m passionate about helping rescue dogs find their forever homes. I work with local shelters to provide the structure and training these pups need to put their best paw forward.
Adopt the Bart man. This sweet, energetic boy just finished a bootcamp with us to work on resource guarding. He's now at a very manageable level and is ready for his forever family.
Bart is a sweet boy who loves car rides and cuddles. He's adoptable through Skiatook Paws and Claws.
Bart is about a year old and does well with older children. He would do best as the only dog or with a passive dog.
Bart has a great foundation of commands and is ready to find a family critérios with his training.
Howdy, partner. Bart is a character and will keep his new family laughing.
Please consider giving Bart a home. He's a wonderful dog who just needs a chance.
Adopt Lazlo. This 1.5-year-old Pittie Mix was brought to us because he was super reactive at adoption events. We've worked through this, and he's a total sweetheart.
About this collection
When a rescue dog lands in my care, they aren't 'bad'—they’re usually just overwhelmed or confused. By working on foundation commands and impulse control, I help potential adopters see the dog's true personality instead of just their shelter stress.
Often, rescue dogs end up back in shelters simply because they lacked the structure to handle the transition into a new home. My approach with these pups is about more than just obedience; it is about building their confidence so they can navigate the world without feeling the need to guard resources or react on the leash.
The Rescue-to-Home Transition
Whether it's a Pittie mix struggling with reactivity or a sweet Heeler needing basic manners, I tailor the bootcamp to the individual dog. We focus on:
- Decompression: Giving them a safe, structured space to let their guard down.
- Socialization: Learning how to be neutral around other dogs and people, rather than over-excited or reactive.
- Public Manners: Getting them ready for real-world scenarios, like vet visits or coffee shop patios.
Why Train Before Adopting?
When you adopt a dog that has gone through a structured bootcamp, you aren't guessing what you are getting. You know they can walk nicely on a leash, understand 'place,' and have worked through common anxiety triggers. Plus, I don't just hand over the leash and walk away. Every adoption of a trained rescue includes a mandatory review session with me. We sit down, walk through everything the dog knows, and make sure you feel totally confident before you head home. It is all about setting you and your new furry family member up for a successful life together.
