Advanced Scar Revision
Reduce the appearance of old scars and restore your skin’s smooth texture with evidence-based dermatological procedures tailored to your needs.
This image shows a hypertrophic scar on the chest, which is a raised and often thick scar. My treatment plans for such scars focus on flattening the tissue and improving its texture and color to better match the surrounding skin.
Here is another example of a hypertrophic scar that can be treated effectively in my clinic. I use a combination of advanced methods, including intralesional injections and laser therapy, to break down the excess collagen and smooth the skin's surface.
About Advanced Scar Revision
Scar revision requires patience and a combination of techniques to see genuine improvement. I typically combine intralesional injections to soften dense tissue with laser sessions to blend the surface texture, which means you should plan for a series of appointments rather than expecting a single instant fix.
Understanding Scar Revision
Many patients come to me feeling self-conscious about hypertrophic scars, acne marks, or post-surgical scars. It is important to understand that a scar is essentially a change in the skin's architecture where collagen has formed in a dense, disorganized pattern. My goal is to remodel that tissue so it lies flatter and blends more naturally with the surrounding skin.
My Approach
I do not believe in 'one-size-fits-all' solutions. During your consultation at Kalloes Clinic, I assess the age, depth, and type of your scar. Based on this, I might recommend:
- Intralesional Injections: Specifically for raised, hypertrophic scars, this helps break down the excess collagen.
- Laser Resurfacing: Using advanced CO2 or fractional lasers to smooth the surface and improve pigmentation.
- Subcision: For tethered acne scars, I use a micro-needle to release the fibrous bands pulling the skin down.
Realistic Expectations
I prefer to be transparent with my patients: total erasure of a scar is rarely possible. However, significant reduction in visibility, texture improvement, and softening are very achievable goals. Whether you are dealing with a recent injury or a scar you have had for years, the earlier we address the healing process, the better the final result.
If you are in the Thane or Mumbai area and looking for a clinical approach to scar management, I am here to guide you through a safe, step-by-step treatment plan.
