About Surgical Solutions for Nail Problems
If you are struggling with a painful, recurring ingrown nail, the most important step is fixing the nail plate itself rather than just treating the surface infection. In my clinic, I perform partial or total nail avulsion under a Digital Ring Block, which numbs the toe completely for a painless procedure. We use phenol matricectomy to prevent the nail from growing back into the skin, offering a permanent solution rather than just temporary relief.
Many people attempt to trim the corner or dig out an ingrown nail at home. This often leads to worsening infection or damage to the nail bed. When you visit Kalloes Clinic, we avoid the guesswork.
The Procedure
We use a sterile Digital Ring Block to ensure the toe is completely numb before beginning. I perform a partial or total avulsion, removing the nail plate edge carefully. Crucially, I apply 88% Phenol to the nail matrix. This chemical cautery ensures that the edge of the nail stops growing into your skin, providing a permanent fix that simple clipping cannot achieve.
Recovery and Aftercare
Most patients walk out feeling immediate relief once the initial procedure is done. You will need to keep the area bandaged for the first 24 to 48 hours. I provide a prescription kit including antibiotics and painkillers to manage the initial healing phase.
Why Seek Professional Help
If you have persistent redness, swelling, or pus, do not wait for the infection to spread. Whether your condition is caused by tight footwear, improper trimming, or genetic nail curvature, I ensure the procedure is clean, bloodless, and as gentle as possible. My goal is to ensure you walk out comfortable and pain-free.
