I often get asked about the products I use. Here, I'm trying out some new HEMA-free products from Kolors Nail Hub. It's important to use high-quality, safe products, especially if you get your nails done regularly.
About Nail Care 101: Tips from the Pro
If you have ever noticed skin growing under your free edge, that is your hyponychium. Never trim it flush to the skin because that is a direct door for infections and pain. Always leave a tiny bit of the free edge and keep the area hydrated with cuticle oil to stop it from getting tough or irritated.
Being a pro means knowing that great nails are about maintenance as much as the initial art. Here is how I handle the common issues we all face.
Handling the 'Haldi' Struggle
Haldi stains are the biggest enemy of a light-colored manicure. If you find your gel polish turning yellow after a function, do not panic. Grab some cotton pads and a standard acetone or alcohol-based nail remover. A quick, gentle wipe usually lifts that yellow tint right off the gel surface before it sets deep.
Practical Nails for Moms
I get asked all the time: 'Can I have nice nails if I am a busy mom?' Absolutely. The key is in the choice of shape and length. I always recommend medium or short-length rounds, or soft squares. They are incredibly practical for daily chores and feel much safer around children compared to sharp stilettos or long coffins. You can still play with cat-eye or chrome finishes to make them look fancy without the hassle.
Choosing Safe Products
I am very selective about what I apply to your hands. I actively seek out HEMA-free products, like those from Kolors, especially for my regular clients. HEMA-free formulas are much gentler on the nail plate, helping keep your natural nails healthy even if you are a regular at the studio.
Remember, your nails are an extension of your style, but they need to be functional. Whether you are prepping for a wedding or just want a clean set for work, these small habits make your salon visits last much longer.
