When designing a reception, I prioritize materials that handle high foot traffic without losing their look. I typically use 2mm commercial vinyl flooring or heavy-duty carpet tiles, paired with layered lighting—recessed panels for general brightness and profile strips to highlight your logo wall—so the space feels professional rather than clinical.

Practical Design Choices
- Durability: Reception areas face heavy use. I rely on 19mm BWR plywood for desks to prevent warping, finished with high-pressure laminates that resist scratches and cleaning chemicals.
- Lighting Strategy: Avoid harsh, flat lighting. I install grid ceilings with recessed LED panels for the main waiting area, then use warm cove lighting or profile strips around your reception desk to create a focal point.
