My Journey: Behind the Dance
Dance is more than just choreography for me. It is about the late nights, the stage fright I overcame, and the community we build. Here is a glimpse of the story off the dance floor.
In conversation with Melvin Louis on the Rush101 podcast. Here I talk about my early days and how cricket was my first passion before dance took over.
Part two of my conversation with Melvin Louis. I share my thoughts on the "boycott" culture in the dance community and the importance of supporting all artists.

About My Journey: Behind the Dance
I used to have terrible stage fright as a kid, often freezing up whenever people looked at me. Overcoming that wasn't about being perfect; it was about accepting the nervousness and just showing up anyway. That realization that I could be whoever I wanted to be on stage changed everything for me, and it is the same philosophy I bring to every student in my class—it is not about nailing the moves immediately, it is about finding your expression.
Before I ever stepped into a studio, cricket was my first passion. I was disciplined, training in camps and dreaming of trophies. It was a rigorous world, and I thought that was my path. But dance kept running in the background of my school life, initially forced upon me for annual days. Eventually, that dynamic shifted. I realized that the discipline I learned on the cricket field—the repetition, the coaching, the hunger—was the same discipline I could apply to movement.
My transition into becoming a dancer wasn't smooth. The stage used to be a place of fear. I remember forgetting routines and feeling overwhelmed by the crowd. What changed was the acceptance of the process. I stopped trying to perform for others and started performing for the moment. Whether I am teaching Bollywood choreography in a studio in Saket or hosting an intensive in Mumbai, my goal is to pass on that shift in perspective.
I often talk about the 'boycott' culture or the insecurities that plague the dance community, but I prefer to focus on the collective. I want my students to know that the studio is a safe zone. There are no right or wrong moves here, just honest attempts. Whether you are joining my Sunday dance batch or a two-month performance intensive, expect a space where we learn and unlearn together. From the streetlights of Delhi to the stage lights of a performance, I am just a student of the craft, constantly looking for the next groove. My journey is proof that if you stay grounded, believe in yourself, and keep moving, the universe eventually aligns with your hustle. Let us keep creating, making mistakes, and finding the rhythm together.
