I'm Swati, the artist behind Hues of Memories. Here is a glimpse into how I create, the materials I use, and the real story behind this small business.

A reintroduction for my new followers. My name is Swati, and art became my therapy after an accident left me bedridden. That journey led me to start Huesofmemories, and I'm so glad you're here.

Reflecting on the ups and downs of 2023. The year started with high hopes but brought health challenges that made it difficult to balance my business, motherhood, and personal well being. I'm determined to focus on my health in the new year.

I believe handmade products are special because of the care and attention to detail that goes into them. This video shows me packing orders and crafting items, a process that can't be replicated by mass production.

Here are five reasons why I love running my small business. It gives me creative freedom, allows me to connect with amazing customers, and provides the flexibility I need as a mom.

This is my business review for July. As a solopreneur juggling household responsibilities, I'm grateful for every single order, whether it's a big month or a slow one. Your support means everything.

A glimpse into my life as an artist and a mom. It's a constant juggle, but I'm passionate about both roles and I work hard every day to build my dream life.

This is a look at my life now compared to the life I used to dream of. Leaving my corporate job was a roller coaster, but I'm so happy to be on this path, making progress every day.

About this collection

Every piece you see here starts at my home studio table in Bengaluru, often while I'm balancing daily mom duties. I use materials like non-toxic eco-resin and 300 GSM cardstock, so any slight variation you see is proof that this was crafted by my hands, not a factory machine.

From Corporate to Crafts

My journey didn't start with a business plan. In 2014, after an accident left me bedridden for two years, art became my therapy. It was just paper, ink, and a need to create. By 2019, I finally left my corporate job to focus on Hues of Memories full-time. It has been a total roller coaster, but making something dil se (from the heart) is what keeps me going.

The 'How' Matters

I don't believe in mass production. When you order from me, you're getting:

  • Eco-Resin Magic: I use high-quality, non-toxic eco-resin (Beyond Mix) for my trays, coasters, and jars. It's pricey and takes time to set, but it’s durable and safe.
  • Papercraft Details: For cards and scrapbooks, I stick to heavy cardstock, heat embossing, and watercolor techniques. If you want a pop-up mechanism or a shaker window, that’s my favorite kind of work to do.
  • Soy Wax: My candles are hand-poured using 100% soy wax, focusing on clean burns and long-lasting scents.

The Reality of Small Business

Running this solo means I handle everything—the designs, the pours, the packing, and yes, the courier follow-ups. Some months are packed with orders, others are quiet, and balancing this with motherhood means I'm often working late or taking breaks to be with my son. When you support a small business like mine, you're helping me build a dream life, one handmade order at a time. Chalo, let's make something unique together.
