Bring a touch of royalty to your hands with intricate Sanjhi-inspired patterns. From lotus vases to palace-style jharokhas, these designs turn traditional art into a stunning modern statement.

This design is inspired by Sanjhi art, a traditional paper-cutting craft. It features personalized initials and classic motifs like pairs of birds and elephants, creating a royal and customized look.

A full-arm Indian mehendi design filled with royal imagery. The palms feature elephants near a temple, while the forearms showcase majestic peacocks in a Jharokha, or ornate window.

This is an example of a bridal-style mehendi that uses traditional motifs instead of human figures. The design includes a doli (palanquin), a kalash, and other symbolic elements for a classic bridal look.

This intricate design features a beautiful peacock on the palm and a detailed temple or palace facade on the wrist. The fingers are adorned with delicate lotus buds, completing the traditional aesthetic.

A client-requested design featuring bold peacock motifs. The peacocks are personalized with names, and the rest of the hand is filled with traditional jaali (net) and floral patterns.

A modern take on Sanjhi art, this design combines a traditional lotus vase motif with a contemporary cutwork style. The fingers have delicate floral bands, creating a light and elegant feel.

A clear view of the Sanjhi-inspired design with modern cutwork. The central motif is a beautiful vase of lotuses, with a swan detail on the wristband, blending tradition with a clean, modern look.

This design plays with perspective. When viewed upright, it appears as a floral pattern, but when you turn it upside down, two sacred Kalash pots are revealed. It's a creative twist on a traditional bridal palm design.

About Sanjhi Art & Royal Motifs

Sanjhi art is all about negative space and bold, clean lines. When I create these designs, the focus is on precision—that fine cutwork that gives your hands a delicate, lace-like appearance. If you are looking for something that stands out from standard florals, these royal motifs add a classic, heritage feel that looks incredible in close-up photography.

What is Sanjhi-Inspired Mehendi?

Sanjhi is a traditional Indian art form that usually involves intricate paper cutting. In mehendi, I translate this into bold, defined patterns that celebrate symmetry and storytelling. Think of motifs like:

  • Royal Architecture: Detailed temple arches, palace jharokhas (windows), and pillar designs.
  • Classic Imagery: Elegant swans, majestic peacocks, and floral lotus vases.
  • Modern Cutwork: Negative space techniques that make the design pop, giving it a lighter, contemporary look despite the high level of detail.

Why Choose This Style?

This cluster is perfect if you want a look that feels timeless rather than trendy. Because these designs are visually distinct, they make for beautiful, clear photos—especially for bridal close-ups where you want to highlight the symbolism rather than just filling every inch of skin.

My Approach to Your Design

I use 100% natural henna mixed with essential oils, so you do not just get a great design; you get that deep, dark stain we all love. For Sanjhi and royal-themed work, I focus on:

  1. Customization: Want your initials hidden in a palace arch or a specific date in a floral border? Let’s map it out.
  2. Balanced Composition: I ensure the density is perfect so the design breathes. It won't look cluttered.
  3. Longevity: I apply lemon-sugar sealant as part of my process to ensure that rich color lasts through your entire event.

Whether you are a bride or prepping for a festive celebration, these royal motifs are a beautiful way to wear history on your palms.
