Dirty Paws: The Story Behind My Handmade Creations
From a sketch on my desk to a community of pet lovers, this is the story of how Dirty Paws came to be. Come meet the heart behind the products.
This is a little glimpse into my world. What began as a passion for painting pet portraits has grown into Dirty Paws, a small business where every product is made with love and purpose.
From people telling me "Nahi Chalega Tera Start-up" (Your start-up won't work) to introducing Dirty Paws at NIT Jamshedpur. This was a huge moment for me and a reminder to keep following my dream.
The smiles from our flea market stall say it all. It was amazing to meet so many fellow animal lovers and see them connect with our handmade accessories and art.
About Our Story
People often ask why I started making reflective collars for ₹35 or why I obsess over the ink on a pet portrait. It is simple. I wanted to make safety and art accessible to everyone. When you support my business, you are helping me keep this project going for street dogs and my own furry muse. It is more than just a transaction for me, it is about keeping our community safe and celebrating the bond we share with our animals.
How It All Started
Dirty Paws began with a small spark and a dog snoozing under my desk. I started by painting pet portraits, trying to capture the soul behind the whiskers. What began as a personal passion project quickly turned into something bigger. I realized that my love for animals did not have to be limited to just my own pet. I started crafting handmade accessories, and soon, the 'Illuminate India' project was born.
The Mission Behind the Products
I believe that safety should not be a luxury. That is why I started making reflective collars for street dogs at just ₹35. Recently, I got an order for 143 reflective collars, and it was a reality check that safety can become a movement. Whether it is a custom portrait or a twinning set for you and your dog, every single piece is made by me, usually with my pup by my side.
My Craft
I handle every detail personally:
- Handmade Portraits: I use fine-line pens and stippling techniques on archival paper to ensure every sketch has life.
- Reflective Collars: Built for Indian street conditions, these are weatherproof, durable, and designed to make sure every tail wag is seen at night.
- Eco-Friendly Toys: I use cotton katrans (fabric scraps) to create safe, chewable toys for your pets.
Everything here is made from scratch. When you place an order, you are not just getting a product. You are supporting a dream, a small business, and the stray dogs who inspired me to start this in the first place. I hope you find something here that feels like it was made just for you and your furry friend.
