Behind the Art: My Creative Process
People often see the finished wall and think it is magic. But before the final stroke, there is a whole process of sketching, mapping, and finding the right vibe. Here is what goes on behind the scenes.
This reel is a look back at the creative journey. It shows the different sides of my work, from signing a finished piece and painting a large mural on scaffolding to detailed watercolor work in the studio. This is the process I trust.
Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and focus on the work. This video is a montage of my creative flow, showing moments of intense focus while sketching, painting with watercolors, and working on a large golden leaf mural. It's all about the vibe.
About Behind the Art: My Process
Every project starts with a real conversation about what you actually want, not just what looks good in a photo. Whether I am doing a mural or a portrait, I map everything out on the wall or paper first with a pencil. Nothing is random. I use washable, premium acrylics that hold their color for years, but the real effort goes into the initial sketch—that is where the story gets its shape before I ever touch a brush.
The Sketching Phase
The most important part of my work happens before the paint touches the surface. I start with freehand pencil mapping to make sure the proportions are right for your specific space. Whether it is a dense botanical mural or a traditional Pichwai motif, the structure has to be solid. I do not use stencils because they can make art look generic and stiff. My hands do the work.
Materials and Durability
For mural projects, I exclusively use high-grade, washable acrylic paints. After the painting is complete, I allow for a 48-hour curing process to ensure the paint sets properly. If we are doing a high-detail heritage piece, I switch to 000-size brushes for those tiny, hairline strokes that give it that miniature painting feel. For areas with high sunlight, I apply a protective varnish to prevent UV fading.
Restoration and Collaboration
Walls age, and art fades. I often work on restoring old murals, studying the original technique to bring back the depth. For large-scale office or hotel projects, I bring in my team of artists to ensure we stick to your timeline without cutting corners on the quality of the finish. It is not just about decorating a wall; it is about creating a piece of art that lasts.
