Getting the lighting right for a sundowner or reception is harder than it looks. I always insist on an evening site visit before we finalize your layout, because I need to see how the natural light fades at your specific venue. This helps us plan exactly when the fairy-light canopies and candle arrays take over, ensuring your transition from twilight to full-party mode is seamless and free of harsh glare.
Designing for the night is a completely different game from daytime decor. While morning functions rely on bright, natural colours, your reception or sundowner needs to play with contrast. My approach focuses on 'layering light.' I start with a fairy-light ceiling or canopy to define the area, then drop in crystal chandeliers or hanging florals to draw the eye downward to the action.
For tables, I move away from clutter. I prefer tall, slim centerpieces that don't block the view across the table—so your guests can actually talk to each other without leaning around a massive vase. I often use candle clusters at the base of these arrangements, as real flickering candlelight adds a warmth that electric light alone cannot replicate.
