Behind the Lens: My Food Videography Process
Curious about how those shots happen? Here is a peek at my process, the setups, and the energy that goes into creating food stories for your screen.
A quick look back at the year. This reel is a mashup of behind-the-scenes moments, from setting up lighting for a shoot to capturing a pizza in a fiery oven.
About Behind the Lens
Getting the perfect shot is rarely just about pointing the camera. Most of my shoots involve moving lights around for twenty minutes just to catch the right steam, or timing a pour until it hits just right. This is about showing the messy, real work that goes into making your menu look its best.
When I step into a kitchen, my goal is to make the viewer feel like they are standing right there. Whether I am shooting a busy Friday night dinner service or a calm, controlled studio session for a menu launch, the approach is the same. It is about drama, movement, and capturing the life of the dish.
My process usually starts with understanding the hero element. Is it the crunch of a crust, the slow swirl of chocolate, or the raw energy of a chef at work? Once we identify that, I use a combination of macro lenses for texture and a gimbal for smooth, cinematic movement. My equipment is built for speed and quality, ensuring we get crisp 4K footage without slowing down your kitchen operations.
I also value the environment. A great food video is not just about the plate; it is about the setting. I aim to capture the clink of glasses, the sound of the sizzle, and the ambient lighting that makes your space unique. By the time I start editing, I am looking for the beat and the flow that will stop someone from scrolling past your reel. Let us talk about your space and how we can show it off.
