About Exquisite Maggam Work & Embroidery

When I work on these designs, my priority is balancing heavy looks with comfort. For little ones, I use 100% pre-washed cotton linings so that even with intricate maggam work, the outfit never feels itchy or heavy. If you have a specific neckline in mind or need to match a certain fabric color, let me know—I can tweak the embroidery motifs to align perfectly with your vision.

Maggam work is more than just embroidery. It is about how the zari thread interacts with the silk to catch the light during a wedding ceremony or a festival puja. I use zardozi, stone work, and traditional thread embroidery to highlight the borders of our Kanchipattu and Paithani fabrics.

Whether you are looking for a heavy bridal-style blouse for yourself or a delicate, scratch-free design for your little one, the process remains the same. I ensure the lining is always soft cotton, and the motifs are placed to avoid any irritation on the skin. We often play with scalloped necklines, puff sleeves, and peplum cuts to give the traditional silhouette a fresh look. If you have a specific color palette for a family event, we can coordinate the embroidery thread to match perfectly. Because everything is handmade, we can adjust the density of the work based on your budget and preference.

Hi, I’m Shretha. I started Eva Couture because I believe traditional wear should be comfortable enough for a child to play in, but detailed enough to stand out at any wedding. I personally oversee the embroidery details on every blouse and lehenga to make sure it is exactly what you imagined.
