I don't believe in interrupting the flow of your Haldi or Mehendi. Instead of lining you up for stiff photos, I look for those quiet moments of connection amidst the chaos, like a shared glance in a crowded garden or the way you naturally hold hands while greeting guests. I prefer using natural light and the venue's existing architecture to frame your story rather than forcing a pose that doesn't feel like you.
Capturing the Energy
Haldi and Mehendi functions are often the most high-energy events in an Indian wedding. You have turmeric being smeared, music playing, and guests running about. My job is to move through this energy without becoming a distraction. I keep a low profile, letting the rituals unfold organically so I can document the genuine laughter, the smeared faces, and the chaotic fun that defines these pre-wedding events.
