About Traditional Kerala & Festive Drapes
My signature no-heat pleating technique ensures your delicate Kerala Kasavu or heavy silk saree stays crisp without any fabric damage. I use rust-free pins and figure-accentuating tucks so you look graceful and feel comfortable for hours, whether you are posing for a photoshoot or celebrating an event with your family.
Perfecting the Traditional Look
Traditional Kerala draping is an art, especially when handling a delicate Kasavu saree. The fabric is beautiful but can be unforgiving if the pleats do not align or if the pallu keeps slipping. I focus on creating symmetrical, sharp pleats that maintain the fabric's natural fall while ensuring the silhouette is flattering for your body type.
Why Technique Matters for Festive Events
Festivals like Onam often involve long hours, movement, and plenty of photos. My process involves:
- Fabric Inspection: Before I touch a single pleat, I check the saree for any existing snags or weak points, especially on vintage or handloom pieces.
- No-Heat Prep: I never use heat directly on your saree. Steam ironing is done via a contact-free method to protect the gold zari sheen.
- Secure Draping: I use minimal, rust-free pins concealed within the folds. This ensures the saree stays in place even if you are moving, dancing, or managing studio fans during a shoot.
Collaboration for a Complete Look
I believe the best look comes from teamwork. I frequently work alongside makeup artists and hairstylists to ensure the drape complements your jewellery, blouse design, and overall aesthetic. Whether you are aiming for a classic, traditional look or a modern fusion style for a magazine campaign, I adapt my technique to suit the mood board.
If you have a specific family heirloom you want to wear, or if you are planning a themed photoshoot, I am here to help you style it with confidence. Let us create a look that feels authentic, comfortable, and truly adipoli.
