Lighting Design: Creating Atmospheric Wedding Decor

Lighting is the silent narrator that sets the mood, from the soft shimmer of fairy lights at a sangeet to the grand drama of a candle-lit reception. ✨

An educational guide to some of my favorite lighting elements. This shows the different styles I use, from dramatic waterfall chandeliers and dreamy cloud chandeliers to modern sculptural LED installations.

A classic crystal chandelier set against a rich, dark green velvet backdrop. This combination creates a look of timeless elegance and high-end glamour, perfect for a sophisticated evening event.

A dramatic, red-themed reception space filled with multiple chandeliers and candelabras. The golden light reflecting off the velvet drapes and floral arrangements creates an atmosphere of pure magic and grandeur.

A collage showcasing the versatility of lighting design. It features a mandap with a chandelier, a tunnel of fairy lights, and a large-scale stage lighting setup, demonstrating how light can transform any space.

An outdoor space transformed by light. Here, we lined a pathway and a lake with hundreds of small lights, creating a magical, glittering landscape for an evening celebration.

A breathtaking entrance tunnel made entirely of fairy lights. Walking through this feels like stepping into a different world, creating a truly memorable experience for guests.

About this collection

When I design lighting, I don't just look for fixtures; I build them into the architecture of your space. Whether it is constructing a custom black grid to hold 2,000 wax candles or rigging a waterfall of crystal chandeliers to frame your mandap, my focus is on depth. I want the light to interact with textures like velvet and brass, ensuring your venue feels intimate and alive the moment guests walk through the door.

Lighting is the difference between a pretty room and a memory. In my work, I approach illumination as a primary design element, not an afterthought. For evening events, I use a layered approach—starting with architectural lighting like fairy light tunnels that draw guests into the space, moving to dramatic installations like my signature candle-wall grids, and finishing with pinpoint spots on floral arrangements to make them glow.

I prefer real wax candles over LEDs whenever possible because nothing replaces the natural flicker and warmth they bring to a room. When I design a sangeet, I think about the energy of the dance floor—using chandeliers that catch movement and color. For more intimate moments, like a mehendi or reception, I lean into softer, diffused light that creates a cocoon of romance.

Lighting dictates the color palette of your photos, too. By working with velvet drapes, metallic brass accents, and floral textures, the light I install paints the room. Whether we are transforming a palace in Jodhpur or a ballroom in Mumbai, the goal is to make the space feel like it is breathing. If you are planning an event and want that perfect, warm, immersive glow, we should talk about how to tailor the light to the specific architecture of your venue.
