About Behind the Decks
When I am behind the console, my focus is on reading the room rather than just sticking to a static playlist. I pay attention to the energy levels of the dancers and adjust my mix, whether that means pulling out a high-tempo Kizomba track or switching to a Bollykiz remix when the crowd needs that extra push.
Creating the right atmosphere is a delicate balance. I treat my DJ sets as a conversation with the dancers. In a typical Latin social night, I start with a warm-up, building the tempo through Salsa and Bachata tracks that get people moving. As the night progresses, I watch the floor closely. If the energy shifts, I might pivot to my signature Bollykiz mashups, blending familiar Bollywood melodies with Afro-Latin rhythms.
I bring my background as a techie to the console. It is not just about the music; it is about the transitions and the flow. I want every song to bleed into the next so the groove never breaks. Whether I am playing in Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Pune, my goal remains the same: I want you to feel the music in your feet. If you are an event organizer, I bring my own console setup, though I do rely on the venue to provide the speakers and aux connection.
