Custom Handwork and Embroidery Designs
From initial sketches to final hand-stitched details, see how we build your custom outfit in our Delhi studio.
Quality is in the details. This video shows the intricate zardozi and beadwork my team and I do by hand. This level of craftsmanship is what makes my outfits stand out, ensuring a perfect finish for wedding blouses and couture pieces.
Here is a glimpse into my workshop where the magic happens. This is the process of hand-painting and adding sequin embroidery to a floral design. Every detail is carefully done by hand to bring the fabric to life.
The first step in any embroidery project is tracing the design onto the fabric. Here, you can see one of my artisans carefully outlining a traditional pattern before the handwork begins.
Creating a statement blouse. This piece features layers of hand-strung beads and pearls over a nude base, finished with dramatic ostrich feathers on the shoulders for a high-fashion look.
This is how an idea becomes a reality. The process starts with a fashion sketch, then moves to pattern making, and finally, I drape the fabric on a mannequin to perfect the silhouette.
A look at the finished feather and pearl blouse paired with an embroidered white lehenga skirt. This is the kind of luxury wear I create that is designed to make you feel confident.
About The Art of Handwork: Behind the Seams
Quality handwork is not just about aesthetics; it is about durability and precision. When we create a piece, I ensure that techniques like crystal beadwork and zardozi are applied to reinforced fabric foundations. This ensures your outfit does not just look good on a mannequin but holds its form during shoots or long events, which is why my work is priced based on the hours of labor required to achieve this finish.
My approach to fashion is grounded in the reality of garment construction. People often ask why custom work requires a lead time, and the answer lies in the process shown here. We do not use assembly lines.
The Creation Process
- Tracing and Sketching: Every design starts as a sketch on paper before being hand-traced directly onto your chosen fabric. This mapping phase is crucial for ensuring symmetry in traditional patterns.
- Hand-Embroidery: Whether you need zardozi, dori work, or heavy crystal detailing, we apply these elements thread by thread. This method creates a level of texture and light reflection that machine work simply cannot replicate.
- Internal Structure: For ball gowns, corsets, or heavy lehengas, I focus on what you cannot see—the internal margins, the can-can volume, and the reinforcement of hooks and zippers. This structural integrity is vital for stage lights or on-set movement.
Why Handwork Matters
When you request a replica of a designer piece or bring a vision from a photo, I analyze how the original was constructed. We replicate not just the look but the weight and drape of the fabric. By using materials like Japan Satin, soft net, and glace cotton, I ensure the final outfit is photogenic and comfortable. If you have an outfit concept or a specific look you want to recreate, let’s discuss the feasibility of the work. I am based in Tilak Nagar and am happy to meet to finalize your sketches or fabrics.
