Custom Mandir Designs for Modern Homes
Finding a quiet, sacred corner in a Mumbai apartment isn't always easy. I design pooja units that bring divinity into your living room while keeping your space clean and functional.
A sacred space, crafted with elegance. This mandir panel features a beautiful illustration of Swami Samarth, backlit to create a divine glow. The unit includes drawers for storing pooja items.
As I always say, "Ghar aisa banao jahaan aapko jaane ka mann kare." This starts from the entrance and extends to the spiritual heart of the home, the mandir. This design features an intricate 'Om' jali panel.
A closer look at one of our mandir designs. The backlit 'Om' symbol creates a serene focal point, and the CNC-cut jali work on the sides adds a traditional touch.
This video shows our karigars at work, installing a custom-designed mandir. The process involves careful assembly of the traditional arched frame and intricate jali panels.
This compact mandir unit is designed with folding jali doors. It can be neatly closed when not in use, making it a perfect solution for integrating a sacred space within the living room.
For Diwali, we showcased this beautiful mandir we designed. The backlit panel features 'Shubh Labh' and other auspicious symbols, illuminating the idol and creating a festive, divine ambiance.
A simple yet beautiful pooja corner. We installed a ready-made wooden temple and paired it with traditional Indian artwork to create a dedicated spiritual space in the living room.
From a simple sofa to a beautiful mandir. This video shows different elements of a home we designed, including this elegant pooja unit with a backlit 'Om' and jali side panels.
This mandir is cleverly hidden behind folding doors that match the adjacent crockery unit. It allows the family to have a dedicated prayer space that can be revealed when needed.
About Sacred Corners: Custom Mandir Designs
My team often builds these mandirs as part of existing TV panels or crockery units, using smart sliding jali doors to tuck the space away when you need your living area for guests. It’s about balance—keeping the sanctity of the place while making sure it fits the reality of your daily life.
In Mumbai, space is the biggest constraint. We don't just build a box for your idols; we look at where that box sits in your daily flow. My approach is to integrate the pooja unit into the home’s layout so it doesn't feel like an afterthought.
We work with a mix of materials to get the look right. Corian is a favorite for mandirs because it's clean, durable, and handles backlighting beautifully. If you want a more traditional feel, we use wood with CNC-cut jali panels. These designs do two things: they look elegant and they allow for 'breathability' around the deities, which is something many clients appreciate.
Why Design Consilio Mandirs are Different
- Smart Integration: We can hide your mandir inside a floor-to-ceiling cabinet or blend it into your TV unit so your living room stays spacious.
- Practical Storage: Nobody wants pooja samagri (essentials) scattered everywhere. We build dedicated drawers and shelves at the base of every unit.
- Lighting that Matters: Instead of generic lights, we use warm profile lighting or backlighting behind the jali to create that glow, making the space feel calm and welcoming.
Whether it’s a full-sized wall unit or a compact, wall-mounted temple, the goal is the same: to create a corner where you actually want to sit and spend time. We handle the design, the carpentry, and the finishing so you don't have to chase contractors.
