Most of the families I work with start by saying, 'Vanshika, mujhe kuch nahi aata hai' (I don't know anything). Honestly, that is my favorite part. I do not need you to be a pro. My job in these rehearsals is to turn that nervous energy into confidence so you can just enjoy the vibe when the music starts.
There is a specific kind of magic that happens in the hours before a Sangeet night. It involves my car being a second home, piles of snacks at rehearsal venues, and convincing everyone that they actually can dance, even if they have two left feet. When I travel for weddings, whether it is to Sonipat or beyond, I become part of the family for a few days. We do not just run through steps. We talk about the songs that mean something to you, we fix formations until they look crisp, and we laugh at the mistakes until they become memories.
I treat my rehearsals as a safe space. If you are struggling with a step, we change it. If you are nervous, we do it one more time. The goal is never to create a robotic performance that looks like it came off a YouTube video. It is about your story, your bond with your partner, or the funny dynamic you have with your cousins. My process is simple. We get the audio crisp, we make sure the cues are clear, and by the time you step onto that stage, you are not performing anymore. You are just having the best time of your life.
Whether we are working online or I am there in person at your venue, the priority is always the same. It is about making sure you feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely happy. Because at the end of the day, those are the smiles that show up in the photos. 🫶🏻
