I don't believe in using fancy supplies to make something beautiful, so I stick to standard acrylics and let my patience do the heavy lifting. Whether I am painting a single orchid or applying gold foil to a circular canvas, my goal is to create something that brings a little bit of magic into your day.
My approach to art is simple: it is a form of play. When I paint a teapot or a vase of flowers, I am not just capturing a shape, I am looking for the tiny details—the way the light reflects on a ceramic surface or the texture of a soft petal. These pieces are meant to sit in your home and bring a moment of calm to your daily life.
Take my gold leaf work, for example. I use a technique called negative space gilding. I apply the foil across the entire surface and then carefully scrape away the excess to reveal the fine, intricate lines of the design beneath. It is a meditative process that turns simple botanical patterns or spiritual figures into something that shimmers and catches the light.
