About Photofacial (IPL): Brighten & Correct
The sensation during an IPL Photofacial is often described like a warm rubber band snapping against your skin, but it is manageable. We apply a thick, cooling conductive gel beforehand to protect your epidermis and guide the light waves, ensuring the process stays comfortable while we target stubborn melanin or redness.
How it works
An IPL Photofacial uses light energy to target specific skin concerns beneath the surface. When the light pulses hit your skin, the melanin (sun spots) or hemoglobin (redness/capillaries) absorbs the heat. This process gently shatters the pigment or coagulates the vessel, allowing your body to naturally clear the damage over the following days.
What we treat
- Sun Damage: Fades sun spots, freckles, and general UV-induced discoloration.
- Redness: Reduces the appearance of broken capillaries and persistent facial flushing.
- Texture: Stimulates collagen production, which helps with mild fine lines and overall skin smoothness.
Your safety comes first
Because we use high-intensity light, we require everyone to wear protective goggles during the procedure to block the flashes. We also perform a quick assessment before we start to ensure your skin type is suitable for IPL. If you have been heavily tanned recently, we might recommend waiting a few weeks to ensure the treatment is safe and effective.
The aftercare reality
Post-treatment, your skin might feel slightly warm, like you have spent a day in the sun. This usually fades within a few hours. The most important rule is sun protection. Your skin will be more photosensitive, so applying SPF 50+ daily is non-negotiable for the next few days. We also recommend skipping harsh exfoliants or active ingredients like retinol for 48 hours to let your skin recover.
