About Cake Smash Sessions
The best cake smash photos happen when your baby feels comfortable and not rushed. I always recommend booking these sessions for a time of day when your child is most active, usually after their morning nap. I provide all the props, balloons, and backdrops, but I ask you to bring the cake yourself so you can choose a flavor that is safe and enjoyable for your little one.
How the Session Works
I structure my 2-hour studio sessions to keep the energy high and the stress low. We start with a clean, formal portrait set to capture those perfect, pre-mess smiles. Once we have those in the bag, we transition to the main event: the Cake Smash. I design the setup with balloons, bunting, and teepee tents to match the vibe you want.
Why the Setup Matters
I believe in letting your child take the lead. Whether they dive straight in or take a moment to explore, I am ready to capture the reactions. We keep the studio environment sanitized and controlled, which is especially important for one-year-olds. I do not use harsh lighting that creates unnatural shadows. Instead, I focus on soft, studio-quality light that keeps the focus entirely on your child.

I generally recommend bringing a couple of outfit changes. One formal outfit for the portraits and something you do not mind getting completely covered in frosting for the smash.
