About Core Skills: Voice, Movement & Improvisation
We believe in practical technique because that is the foundation of every great actor. Whether you are using a pencil to sharpen your diction or practicing sargam on the harmonium to find vocal resonance, every exercise here serves a purpose in building your performance range.
Theatre is a craft that requires constant practice. Our approach at Chalo Theatre Studio splits your training into three core pillars: Voice, Movement, and Improvisation.
Voice and Speech
We don't just teach you to speak louder. We use traditional techniques like sargam (musical scales) on the harmonium to control pitch and rhythm. You will work on breath control, projection, and clarity, ensuring your dialogue reaches the back row of an auditorium without straining your vocal cords.
Actor’s Body Movement
Your body tells a story even before you speak. Our sessions involve physical theatre games, animal mimicry, and stage presence drills. We focus on the mind-body connection, helping you break inhibitions and use your physical form to convey subtext and character psychology effectively.
Improvisation Theatre
This is where you learn to think on your feet. Through spontaneous games and reactive scene work, you will develop the ability to listen to your co-actors and respond naturally. These exercises are crucial for breaking away from rote memorization, allowing you to react with authentic micro-expressions and energy.
Because our faculty are NSD alumni, we prioritize a 'learning by doing' environment. We keep batch sizes limited so that every student gets personal attention, whether you are preparing for a professional audition or simply looking to build confidence for daily life. Everything we do in the rehearsal room is designed to prepare you for the stage, ensuring that when you face an audience, you are present, expressive, and ready.
Chalo Theatre Studio
We are the team behind Chalo Theatre Studio. We come from NSD, but more than that, we come from a place of passion for the craft. We treat every student like family, because that is how we grew—learning, laughing, and performing together.
