Effective performance starts from within. Discover the core techniques—voice projection, stance, and critical thinking—that turn theatre into a powerful tool for confidence and communication.

We break down the four essential tools of impactful communication: Voice, Pitch, Tone, and Stance. This video provides a clear, concise explanation of each element, forming the theoretical basis for the practical exercises we teach in our training program.

This graphic outlines the three key drama performance skills: staying in character, speaking and moving with purpose, and facing the audience. We use clear, simple frameworks like this to help you teach the fundamentals of stagecraft and build your students' confidence.

This simple visual illustrates our core educational goal: using drama to move from a problem, through the process of thinking, to a solution. Our training is designed to equip you with process-based theatre techniques that unlock critical thinking in children.

This graphic highlights the key questions that drive critical thinking: Who, What, Where, Why, and How. Process-based theatre is a game-changer because it encourages children to ask these questions, analyze situations, and collaborate on creative solutions.

This montage shows children exploring different characters and emotions through movement and play. Our curriculum is designed to nurture emotional intelligence and empathy by allowing children to safely step into new perspectives.

The joy of self-expression is evident as these children raise their hands with enthusiasm. We foster an environment where every child feels seen and heard, building the confidence they need to communicate effectively.

Laughter and engagement are powerful learning tools. This candid shot captures the fun of our sessions, where pretending and play lead to deeper understanding, creativity, and emotional growth.

About Building Foundational Skills: Voice, Body, and Mind

In my sessions, we focus on the mechanics of speech and body awareness long before we ever step onto a stage. You will learn the 'CROW' technique—Character, Relationship, Objective, and Where—to help your students or children stop merely reciting lines and start truly embodying their roles. A shaky voice is rarely a lack of talent; it is often just a need for better oral motor training and stance awareness, which we address in every small-batch session.

The Foundation of Performance

True stage presence is not innate; it is cultivated through consistent, focused practice. Whether you are an educator looking to introduce drama in your classroom or a parent helping your child find their voice, understanding the mechanics of communication is essential.

Core Components We Cover

  • Voice & Speech: We move beyond volume. We analyze pitch, tone, and pacing. You will learn how to train children to use their voice as an instrument, focusing on tongue vibrations and oral motor skills that improve clarity.
  • Body & Stance: A performer's physical presence dictates how the audience perceives their character. We teach specific exercises that align the body with the intended message, ensuring that gestures are purposeful rather than accidental.
  • Critical Thinking (CROW): We use the CROW framework—Character, Relationship, Objective, and Where—to ensure every scene has logical intent. This moves students away from rote memorization and towards active, thoughtful participation.

Why This Training Matters

Most performance coaching focuses on the 'product' (the final show). At Theatre & U, we focus on the 'process.' By breaking down communication into these tangible, teachable skills, we ensure that the confidence gained on stage is durable. It remains with the student long after the lights go down, applying directly to their classroom presentations, social interactions, and daily critical thinking abilities. Our small batch structure allows for the individual feedback necessary to master these nuances.

I founded Theatre & U to show that acting is just the byproduct of a much deeper journey. My goal is to help you—whether you are a parent or an educator—understand that real confidence comes from building strong foundations in voice and movement. Let's get to work on that.
