About Kudremukha: The Horse-Face Peak
The Kudremukha trek is a full day of navigating dense shola forests and crossing mountain streams, which gets slippery during the monsoon. Because the terrain is vast and remote, we include the essential 4x4 jeep transfers from your homestay to the base camp. You won't be struggling with local logistics or forest department paperwork—we handle the permits, guide fees, and transport so you can concentrate on the climb.
Why Kudremukha?
Kudremukha, or 'Horse-Face' peak, is one of the most stunning trails in the Western Ghats of Chikkamagaluru. It is known for its rolling green grasslands that look like a sea of hills and the dense, misty shola forests. It is not a walk in the park, but it is deeply rewarding for anyone who loves nature and a bit of a challenge.
How We Do It
We run this like a family, not a tour company. We pick you up from Bengaluru, handle the dorm-style homestay accommodation, and ensure you are fed with local meals. Here is what you get with us:
- Logistics Sorted: We arrange the 4x4 jeep rides from the homestay to the forest entry point, so you do not waste time or energy.
- Permits Included: All forest department entry fees and guide charges are part of the package. We deal with the authorities so you do not have to.
- The Community Vibe: Whether it is a solo traveller or a group of friends, you will find people with similar interests. We focus on a 'homely feel baruthe' experience.
A Few Ground Rules
- Swachhata Important Guru: This is our mountain. We have a strict 'no littering' policy. We leave the trail better than we found it.
- Preparation: While we provide the guide, you should carry sturdy trekking shoes and a raincoat, especially if you are trekking between June and September. The streams are high and the path gets muddy.
This is a place to disconnect from the city, walk through the clouds, and experience the real beauty of our naadu.
Chaarana Suttata
I have spent 12 years exploring our naadu, and I started this group to share that same connection with nature. We focus on a simple, homely experience where you show up, trek, and leave with a new group of friends. No fuss, just a proper trekking community.
