Solid Dog Obedience and Recall Training
Building a well-behaved dog is not about magic tricks. It is about creating a common language through consistent obedience, reliable recall, and clear communication.
This is Bolt demonstrating a great recall in a park. Even with the freedom of an open space, he comes back when called because of the strong foundation we built together with his owner.
Even small commands like 'Stand' are part of building a language with your dog. These cute moments during training are signs of a dog that is engaged and happy to learn.
The 'Place' command is incredibly useful. It teaches a dog to settle down, cope with their surroundings, and gives you a way to manage their behavior in almost any situation.
This is a student from our Board and Train program practicing obedience commands. We ensure dogs can perform for different handlers, not just for me.
We work on on-leash manners around other dogs. The goal is to have a dog that can walk past another dog without reacting, maintaining focus on the handler.
Not every puppy is hyper. This low-drive puppy requires a different approach, focusing on patience and gentle encouragement to build confidence during place training.
Collar conditioning is the first step in teaching a dog how to respond to leash guidance. It's a gentle introduction to how we will communicate during walks and training.
About Solid Foundations: Obedience, Recall & More
One common mistake owners make is trying to force obedience through pure repetition. It does not work that way. When I teach a command like 'Place', I am not just teaching your dog to sit on a mat. I am giving them a tool to self-regulate when they are over-excited or anxious. You need to learn how to communicate that expectation clearly, so the dog understands exactly what is required.
Training goes beyond the basics of Sit, Down, or Wait. The real test is whether your dog listens when there is a cat running across the park or when the doorbell rings unexpectedly. This is why our obedience programs are designed to transition from the safety of your home to real-world environments. We work on 'proofing' commands in busy parks and on noisy streets, ensuring your dog maintains focus on you regardless of the chaos around them.
A major part of my philosophy is that I am training you as much as your dog. If you cannot read your dog's signals or apply corrections at the right moment, the training will not stick once I leave. Whether we are practicing loose-leash walking to stop the constant pulling, or reinforcing a solid recall so you can let them off-leash safely, the success depends on your ability to handle the situation. We will work on the specific triggers for your dog, whether it is reactivity to other dogs or just general impulsivity. Every dog has a different drive, and we adjust our methods to match. If your dog needs more intensive work, our Board and Train program at our sector 59 facility in Gurugram offers a focused, consistent environment to build these foundational skills before we transition to owner-handling sessions.
