Training is a journey that builds confidence and strengthens your bond. It is not just about commands like sit or stay. Here is a look at the mental and physical drills, including agility and free shaping, that I use to keep your dog engaged and happy.

Agility work, like this hoop jump, is a great way to keep a dog physically fit and mentally engaged. It builds confidence and strengthens the bond between dog and owner.

We use elements in the environment, like this park playground, for agility practice. It's a fun way to build your dog's coordination and listening skills.

A look back at some of the wonderful dogs and parents we've had the pleasure of working with. Every journey is unique, but the goal is always a happy dog and a happy family.

Theo, a student in our Board and Train program, learning new obedience steps. We break down complex behaviors into small, manageable parts to ensure the dog understands and succeeds.

This is a more advanced technique called free shaping, where we encourage the dog to think and offer behaviors. It's a fantastic way to build a dog's problem-solving skills.

About Additional Work & Fun Drills

Many people think agility is only for competition, but it is actually a brilliant way to burn energy and build focus. Whether we are using a park playground or a simple hoop at home, these drills force your dog to think, solve problems, and look to you for cues. It tires them out mentally faster than a long walk ever will.

Beyond Basic Obedience

When a dog is bored, they create their own fun. This often looks like chewing furniture, excessive barking, or pulling on the leash. These drills are not about creating a circus performer. They are about providing the mental outlet your dog craves. When I work with a client, we don't just focus on 'Sit' or 'Stay'. We incorporate movement, puzzle-solving, and agility to ensure your dog is using their brain as much as their body.

Why Agility Matters

You do not need expensive equipment to build agility. I often use park playgrounds, household items, or environmental obstacles to teach your dog to navigate space confidently. Agility improves physical coordination and, more importantly, it requires them to pay attention to your body language. If your dog is distracted by every passing car or squirrel, these exercises bring their focus back to you.

Free Shaping & Thinking Skills

I often use a technique called 'free shaping'. Instead of luring the dog with a treat or physically pushing them into a position, I wait for them to offer a behavior and then mark it. This forces the dog to think. It turns the training session into a puzzle. This builds a dog that is eager to learn and resilient, rather than one that just goes through the motions.

The Result

Whether we are working on backstepping, hoop jumps, or impulse control, the goal is always the same: a balanced relationship. When your dog learns to solve a problem with your guidance, they start to trust you as a leader. This is how we move past the 'tug-of-war' walks and into a partnership where you can take your dog anywhere. Theek hai? It is all about the steps we take together.
