Our Imagination Havens: Building Sanctuaries of Hope
We transform empty rooms in shelters and schools into vibrant, cozy libraries where children can heal and dream. These are safe, colourful spaces where stories change lives.
From a simple classroom to our 'Sea of Stories' library. Watch the transformation as we hang art, arrange furniture, and fill the shelves to create a haven of imagination for children who are deaf and mute. This space is where silence becomes a canvas for storytelling.
This was the 'before'. An old, empty shipping container held an ambitious dream: to become India's first storytelling shipping container library. This is where the journey of our "Library of Journeys" began, with a vision to repurpose this space into a world of imagination.
Take a tour of our beloved Imagination Havens. From the 'Library of Journey' to the 'Hungry Caterpillar Library', each space is uniquely designed with love and care to be a magical escape for the children we serve. Which one would you visit first?
Welcome to the Library of Flowers, our newest haven in Mumbai. With bright, floral murals and cozy red sofas, we've created a sanctuary for 65 brave girls rescued from difficult circumstances. This is more than a library; it's a place where dreams can take root and flourish.
A glimpse into our East Meets West Library, where the walls are adorned with beloved characters like Cinderella and Peter Pan. This vibrant space, with its fully stocked bookshelves, is designed to spark joy and make every storytelling session an immersive adventure.
Welcome to our Lotus Library in Pune. Here, children are stepping into the enchanting world of 'Camilla the Cupcake Fairy'. The library is their safe space, where they can listen to stories, get creative with crafts, and let their imaginations run wild.
A visit to our rural 'Peacock Library' is always a heartwarming experience. The colorful murals and welcoming atmosphere make it a perfect place for children to gather, share, and lose themselves in the magic of stories.
Our Imagination Haven Program is about building safe spaces in orphanages, schools, and shelter homes. Each library is thoughtfully designed with diverse book collections to create a welcoming environment for every child to explore, learn, and grow.
We believe in creating unique and thoughtfully designed libraries. Each space reflects the surrounding environment and resonates with the children who use it, making it a true haven for them.
What do we do? We empower children through the power of stories. This starts with creating the right environment, a safe and inspiring 'Imagination Haven' where they can begin their healing journey.
About Our Imagination Havens: Building Sanctuaries of Hope
These aren't just quiet reading rooms. We turn raw, empty spaces—from old shipping containers to stark classroom corners—into Imagination Havens featuring bright, hand-painted murals, soft floor cushions, and low-height shelves. We design these areas specifically to be safe, welcoming environments where children feel they truly belong. When a child walks in, they don't see institutional furniture; they see a place that was made just for them, helping them lower their defenses and open up to the healing journey.
Our approach goes beyond aesthetics. Whether it is our 'Sea of Stories' library designed specifically for deaf and mute children, or the 'Library of Flowers' in Mumbai, each project is a unique intervention. We integrate accessibility, such as tactile visuals and sign language cues, to ensure every child, regardless of ability, has access to the wonder of reading.
Why Design Matters
We operate on the belief that environment impacts emotional state. Children who have experienced trauma require physical safety to feel psychological safety. By using our S.T.O.R.Y. method—selecting books that teach courage, kindness, and hope—we match the curated inventory to the specific needs of the children in that facility.
The Transformation Process
We offer end-to-end library renovation services for schools, orphanages, and shelter homes.
- Thematic Design: We collaborate with designers to create concept spaces like 'Jungle' or 'Space' that encourage curiosity.
- Infrastructure: We install child-safe soft flooring, high-density foam seating, and durable bookshelves that make the room feel like a home rather than an office.
- Long-term Care: We don't just build and leave. Our full-year programs include staff training, volunteer deployment, and ongoing impact assessments through our Hope Score system to monitor how the library is actually helping the children.
We currently manage and build these havens across Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. If you represent an organization or a school looking to create a space that fosters healing and growth, we have the experience to manage the entire process from design to inauguration.
