Featured Hand-Embroidered Blouse Designs
Every thread tells a story. Explore a showcase of hand-embroidered blouses where traditional zardosi and intricate motifs bring Indian mythology and nature to life.
For me, a story isn't just spoken. It's woven, thread by thread. This video introduces my Katha Collection, where each blouse becomes a canvas for timeless craft. It pays homage to the peacock, a symbol of beauty and grace, brought to life with shimmering zardosi embroidery.
This is the Nemali Vanam blouse, a piece that captures the poetry of a peacock's dance. The back is set against a sheer base, allowing the intricate hand embroidery of lush florals and a regal peacock to become the centerpiece. The sleeves are embellished with katdana detailing, echoing the artistry of temple architecture.
Here, mythology becomes wearable art. This blouse from my Janaki Rama series portrays the divine bond of Sita and Rama. The story is hand painted and then intricately embroidered on the back of the blouse, creating a piece that is both a garment and a sacred tribute.
Hello, this is me, Mahitha Prasad. I am so excited to personally invite you to The Six Yard Project. In this video, I share a little about my process of sourcing beautiful, traditional handloom sarees directly from weavers for my exclusive 3 day pop up event.
Tradition comes alive in this stunning look. I designed this rich, red velvet blouse for Jahnavi's pre wedding celebrations. The gold zardosi work, highlighted with sequins, creates a flowing creeper pattern that is both radiant and full of character.
Kamalam, or the lotus, is a powerful symbol of resilience and grace. This video shows the story of my Kamalam blouse, where delicate lotus motifs are embroidered with zardosi on soft raw silk. It is a love letter to stillness, beauty, and heritage.
My client Kshipra looks absolutely radiant in this hot pink and orange silk blouse. I designed this piece with a structured fit and intricate gold zari detailing along the neckline and sleeves to create a timeless statement of heritage and personal style.
About this collection
Because I design each piece individually, I work on an appointment-only basis at my HSR Layout studio. When we meet, we focus on the fabric, the specific motifs that resonate with your personal style, and how to blend that narrative into a blouse that you will cherish for years.
My design philosophy for the Katha Collection is simple: your blouse should be a canvas for your personal history. Each piece is crafted using traditional techniques like zardosi, aari, and 3D threadwork, ensuring that the final result is not just clothing, but a memory you wear.
The Design Process
When you book a consultation, we start by discussing the occasion. Whether it is a traditional Muhurtham, a pre-wedding celebration, or an intimate gathering, the design must reflect the event's scale. We select premium raw silks and high-count cotton blends that serve as the foundation for the embroidery. You have complete creative input here; we decide together which motifs, from divine mythology like Janaki and Rama to nature-inspired themes like the Kamalam lotus, best represent your story.
Craftsmanship and Materials
I place high value on the quality of materials. My work typically involves:
- Zardosi and Katdana: Used for depth and shimmer, often paired with sequin vines to add movement.
- Hand-painted Motifs: For a softer, more artistic touch on silk bases.
- Structural Fit: I prioritize a fit that is both flattering and comfortable, ensuring the embroidery rests perfectly without weighing the garment down.
Why Handloom Matters
Beyond the blouse, I often help clients pair their custom work with authentic handloom sarees sourced directly from weavers across India. This ensures that the entire ensemble—the saree and the blouse—shares a consistent narrative of heritage and devotion. If you are looking for an ethnic piece that avoids mass-market trends and focuses on meaningful, slow fashion, I would love to collaborate with you.
