Bespoke Spiral Staircase
Structural Framework
- Heavy-gauge 150mm diameter mild steel central pole engineered for rigidity.
- Precision laser-cut steel cantilever plates seamlessly welded to the column.
- Satin Grey, Black, or Anthracite spray-painted finish with anti-rust primer.
Woodwork Specifications
- 40mm thick Solid American White Oak or Premium Teak wood treads.
- Distinctive Walnut wood inlay strip near the nosing for contrast and grip.
- 3 coats of clear Polyurethane (PU) matte or satin lacquer.
Railing & Handrail
- Vertical steel spindles (16mm to 20mm) curved to match the stair radius.
- Continuous curved steel handrail welded to the structure.
- Matching balustrade included for the top landing area up to 1 meter.
Design & Installation
- Includes site survey, 3D modeling, and shop drawings.
- Complete delivery, heavy lifting, and mechanical fixing to floor and beams.
Floating Mono-Stringer Staircase
Steel Spine Structure
- Heavy-duty box-section steel mono-stringer beam designed for zero bounce.
- Anchored with heavy-duty bolts to concrete slabs.
- Powder-coated or spray-painted finish in White, Grey, or Black.
Floating Treads
- Open riser design with 60mm to 80mm thick box-style Solid Oak or Ash treads.
- Wide profile (up to 1100mm) concealing steel connecting plates.
- Finished with multi-layer commercial grade PU lacquer.
Glass Balustrade
- 12mm Toughened Clear Safety Glass panels.
- Mounted with SS304 stainless steel side standoffs or base shoe channels.
- Slim profile solid wood handrail mounted on top of the glass.
Fabrication & Assembly
- Off-site fabrication of steel spine and joinery.
- Precision on-site alignment and glass panel fitting.

Bespoke Staircases That Stand Out
At Beveledge, a staircase isn't just a way up or down for us - it’s a piece of the house that should make you stop and look. I like working closely with people to create something that fits right in with their space, whether you want it bold or quietly modern. Every staircase I make is a one-off, built for your home, not from a catalogue.
What I Build Most
- Spiral staircases: Good for tight spots or open areas where you want something that really pops. I build these with a solid steel pole in the middle, strong wooden treads (oak with walnut inlays is a favourite), and curved steel railings that match up.
- Centre-spine stairs: These are the floating kind, look very clean and let in loads of light. A single steel beam runs down the middle, thick wood treads sit right on top, and the side can be finished with a glass panel balustrade if you want things very open.
Materials I Use
- Only solid hardwoods for the steps and rails, mostly oak for strength, sometimes walnut for that fancy touch.
- Steel for everything structural, all cut and welded in my own workshop.
- Toughened glass if you want a modern balustrade that doesn’t block the view.
