This centre-spine staircase creates a floating effect, using a single steel support and solid oak treads. The design keeps the hallway bright and open.
A bespoke spiral staircase connecting a living area to a mezzanine. It serves as a functional sculpture and a central feature of this beautiful open-plan home.

My workshop during the fabrication of a steel centre spine. Every part is measured, cut, and welded by me to ensure a perfect fit on site.

The view from the top landing, showing how the staircase and glass balustrade integrate with the upper floor. This maintains an open and connected feeling between levels.
Another angle of the finished centre-spine staircase, showing how the toughened glass balustrade is fixed directly to the oak treads for a seamless look.

The slender profile of the centre-spine staircase allows light to pass through, making the hallway feel larger and more welcoming.
The precise fit of each oak tread against the central steel pole is critical in a spiral design. This top-down view shows the craftsmanship involved.

About Bespoke Staircase Design & Fabrication

Bespoke Staircases That Stand Out

At Beveledge, a staircase isn't just a way up or down for us - it’s a piece of the house that should make you stop and look. I like working closely with people to create something that fits right in with their space, whether you want it bold or quietly modern. Every staircase I make is a one-off, built for your home, not from a catalogue.

What I Build Most

  • Spiral staircases: Good for tight spots or open areas where you want something that really pops. I build these with a solid steel pole in the middle, strong wooden treads (oak with walnut inlays is a favourite), and curved steel railings that match up.
  • Centre-spine stairs: These are the floating kind, look very clean and let in loads of light. A single steel beam runs down the middle, thick wood treads sit right on top, and the side can be finished with a glass panel balustrade if you want things very open.

Materials I Use

  • Only solid hardwoods for the steps and rails, mostly oak for strength, sometimes walnut for that fancy touch.
  • Steel for everything structural, all cut and welded in my own workshop.
  • Toughened glass if you want a modern balustrade that doesn’t block the view.

How It Happens

  • Design phase with you so it fits your space and your style.
  • I make all the parts myself, nothing outsourced.
  • My team handles the installation, making sure it fits just right.

If you’re after something that isn’t off-the-shelf, and you want materials that last, that’s what I do.

My Story

We’re Beveledge, tucked away here in Ireland, just doing our thing - turning solid wood and steel into something you’ll actually want to keep forever. No mass production, just real craft. There’s a buzz in seeing a raw hunk of oak become a centrepiece in someone’s home. Being part of the Made Local crowd, that matters to us. Honestly, it’s about making things that fit your space, not the other way around.

My Work

Custom Furniture & Interiors - We make custom solid wood dining tables, cabinets, fitted storage, drinks cabinets, and bespoke spiral staircases Ireland style.

Quality Materials & Finishes - Mostly use oak, walnut, steel, glass. Finishes like heat resistant lacquer keep things tough but classy.

Tailored Design for Every Project - No templates here. Every piece is made for your space, from first clamp to final polish.

Details That Matter - Little things count - like walnut inlays or a hidden drawer in your drinks cabinet. Makes it yours.
