About this collection
Most of the photos you see here happen when you aren't looking at the camera. We don’t ask kids to say cheese or stand still for long. Instead, we spend the event moving through the crowd—hiding behind a chair or sitting near the cake—waiting for that real laugh, a messy face, or a quick, loving glance between family members. It is the natural, messy, and loud parts of the party that usually end up being your favorite memories.
We have been photographing families since 2013, and our approach has always been the same: keep it real. Whether it is a first birthday cake smash, a traditional naming ceremony, or an intimate baby shower, we focus on the stuff that actually happens, not the stuff we stage.
