Behind the Lens: My Photography Process

Photography is more than just clicking a button. It is about understanding light, mastering gear, and preparing to capture that split-second emotion in-camera.

A fun moment from a New York photography workshop with Jason Lanier, who is flipping my $5,000 Zeiss Otus lens. It shows my commitment to investing in the best gear and learning from top professionals around the world.

A look inside the technology I use. This video shows a working model of a camera's in-body and lens image stabilization system, the kind of tech that helps me get sharp, shake-free images even in challenging conditions.

About Behind the Lens

I do not just shoot. I experiment. Whether I am testing an in-body image stabilization system or working with international mentors, every move is intentional. I need to know exactly how my gear performs so that when I am at your shoot, I am not guessing settings. I am purely focused on your moments.

For me, the work happens long before the shutter clicks. It starts with the gear. I use high-end equipment like the Sony Alpha mirrorless system and Zeiss Otus lenses because they provide the precision and sharpness I need for professional portraits. When I am at a location, I am looking for the natural light, the angle, and the timing. If the available light does not work, I know how to create my own.

My approach to "getting it right in the camera" is why I spend time in workshops from London to New York. I want to understand the limits of my cameras and lenses, such as their image stabilization capabilities or depth-of-field control. This technical knowledge gives me the freedom to focus on your candid expressions and unscripted moments rather than fumbling with settings.

Whether you are booking me for a fashion editorial or a pre-wedding couple shoot, you are getting someone who treats photography as both an art and a business. I do not rely on heavy post-processing to fix mistakes. I aim for frames that are sharp, well-lit, and timeless from the start. If you are looking for a photographer who values technical excellence and preparation, let us discuss your project.

I am Atishay. I move through life chasing new frames, from Delhi’s busy streets to international workshops. Photography is how I process the world, and I treat every project with the same focus I apply to my own gear tests.
