About Art of the Drink: Cocktails & Beverages
Drinks are notoriously difficult to photograph because they lose their visual appeal faster than food. Whether it is the perfect condensation on a glass or the fizz of a soda, I use specific lighting techniques and real-time styling to freeze that refreshing moment, ensuring your cocktails look as chilled and inviting on a screen as they do at your bar.
The secret to great beverage photography lies in the lighting and the timing. A cocktail shot in the harsh noon sun of a cafe requires a completely different approach than a moody whiskey pour in a dim lounge. My goal is to match the lighting setup to the actual vibe of your establishment.
My Approach to Beverage Shoots
- Liquid Drama: I capture the action, from the pour of a syrup to the mist of a spray. This creates a sense of movement that static photos often miss.
- Styled to Match: I use props like ice, condensation sprays, and fresh garnishes to keep the drink looking fresh throughout the session. If the drink starts to melt or lose its foam, I reset the styling immediately.
- Menu Consistency: For delivery apps, I focus on bright, high-key photography that ensures your drinks look appetizing on small mobile screens. For your social media or print menus, I shift to more dramatic, lifestyle-oriented shots that highlight the atmosphere of your venue.
Technical Details
I shoot with a Canon R6 and use a mix of natural light and professional Godox strobes. I provide both high-resolution files for print and web-optimized versions for platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, or your own website. Whether you need a simple hero shot of a signature mocktail or a dynamic video for a recipe reel, I have the gear and the eye to make it happen. My work is about ensuring that when a customer sees the photo, they immediately want to order the drink.
