Mumbai homes are tight, but they don't have to feel that way. I share my favorite design hacks—from hidden shoe racks to budget-friendly countertop swaps—to help you get more out of every square foot.

Want to apply wallpaper on a wooden cupboard? Here’s how we do it. By preparing the surface with a paint base and protecting the wallpaper with glass or a clear PU coat, you can give old furniture a completely new look.

Invisible grills are a modern and safe alternative to traditional M.S. grills, especially for high-rise buildings. Made of high-tensile stainless steel cables, they provide security for children and pets without obstructing your view.

For a high-end look without the high cost of quartz, I often use vitrified slabs. They are durable, easy to maintain, and come in many colors and patterns. We use them for countertops, wall paneling, and even window frames.

We transformed this small balcony into a cozy retreat. By using textured charcoal sheets on the walls, adding shelves for plants, and fitting in a compact bar cabinet, we created a functional and green space for relaxing.

To get that perfect, straight drape for sheer curtains, we add small metal weights to the bottom hem. This simple trick helps the curtains hang beautifully and gives them a more professional, high-end finish.

Don't throw away that old, yellowed AC unit or metal frame. A quick and easy hack is to use acrylic spray paint. It gives a smooth, even finish and can make old items look brand new, saving you money on replacements.

Wasted corner space is a common problem in many kitchens. Here’s one of my favorite hacks to solve it: the magic corner. This pull-out shelving system allows you to easily access everything stored deep inside the corner cabinet, making sure no space goes unused in your modular kitchen design.

When combining two flats, we were left with an extra doorway near the entrance. Instead of just sealing the wall, we converted the space into a full-height, built-in shoe rack. By camouflaging the doors with the same wall paneling and moulding design, the storage is completely hidden, creating a seamless and practical entryway solution.

About Space-Saving Solutions & Design Hacks

In Mumbai, we often combine flats, which leaves us with odd niches or extra doorways. Rather than just sealing these off, I look at how we can turn those structural leftovers into full-height, camouflaged storage. Whether it's turning an extra door into a built-in shoe rack or using vitrified slabs for a high-end look at half the price, the goal is always to make the most of what you already have.
