Custom Kitchen Designs Featured in Architectural Digest
Seeing this kitchen project reach the pages of Architectural Digest India was a special moment. It highlights the collaborative approach I take with every home I design.
I was thrilled to see my work featured on Architectural Digest's website. This recognition for the custom-tiled kitchen project was a wonderful moment and a testament to the collaborative effort with my client and the artisans involved.
About As Seen In: Architectural Digest
This kitchen was a labour of love, born from a wonderful collaboration with artist Shibani Dhavalikar. We worked closely to ensure the custom-painted blue and white tiles were durable enough for a busy, functional kitchen. Every brass fixture and seamless countertop was placed to make daily cooking feel effortless, balancing that fine line between art and utility.
When designing this space, the goal was to create a kitchen that felt lived-in rather than like a showroom. The feature in Architectural Digest validated that design choice.
The Design Approach
We focused on the intersection of modern functionality and traditional artistic expression. The Smeg cooktop is the anchor of the kitchen, but the real story is in the details surrounding it. We used custom tiles that depict a delicate, fluid botanical pattern, which provides a stark, clean contrast against the solid, muted cabinetry.
Practical Choices
- Surface Materials: We selected surfaces that handle heat and moisture well, ensuring the kitchen remains pristine even after heavy use.
- Lighting: By using a mix of concealed architectural lighting and warm brass accents, the space feels bright during the day and cozy at night.
- Storage: Every drawer and cupboard was mapped out based on the client's actual cooking habits.
This project serves as a perfect example of my design philosophy. I believe that a home renovation should not just change how a room looks, but how it supports your daily life. Whether we are integrating heirloom pieces or installing new high-end appliances, the focus remains on making the space feel entirely yours.
