Behind the Art: My Process & Passion
Henna is more than just work for me, it is a personal connection and a way to celebrate love. Here is a look at the mehnat (hard work) that goes into every cone.
My art isn't limited to skin. I also create beautiful henna-inspired calligraphy art pieces, like this one featuring the name of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
A beautiful moment from my own Nikaah. Being a bride myself has given me a deeper appreciation for how important mehndi is to a woman on her wedding day.
A quick video showing the application of a detailed design. I use a fine-tipped cone to create precise lines and intricate patterns.
This is where the magic begins. I mix my own henna paste using all-natural ingredients to ensure a smooth consistency and a rich, dark stain.
A satisfying close-up of the henna application process. You can see how I layer the paste to create depth and texture in the design.
Adding the final touches to a floral design. The small dots and fine lines are what bring the whole piece together and make it special.
About Behind the Art: My Process & Passion
I make my own henna paste from scratch, keeping it 100 percent organic and chemical-free. When you see that deep, rich maroon stain after a few hours, that is not just the henna—it is the result of hours of balancing the right ingredients, triple-filtering the mix, and having the patience to wait for the natural dye to release.
For me, henna is about the story it tells. I remember how I felt as a bride, and I bring that same care to every design I do for you. My studio in Kurla is where I mix my own batches, ensuring you won't find store-bought, chemical-heavy cones here. I prefer the slow process of traditional, natural henna because the stain is everything. Whether I am working on a heavy bridal piece or simple festival henna, I focus on the little things like floral shading, the sharp geometry of Gulf-style patterns, and making sure the lines are clean.
It is a constant mix of hard work and passion. And yes, sometimes in the middle of a busy wedding season, I do catch myself thinking, 'If I apply henna for everyone, who will apply for me?' But that is just part of the joy. If you are curious about how I get those fine lines or want to learn the art of mixing, I also host classes in Kurla where we break down the basics of shading, cone control, and design flow.
