About Traditional Indian Maternity Shoots
You do not need to choose between a studio or outdoor setting for your traditional shoot. I can recreate the seemantha vibe right inside my Bilekahalli studio using marigold flowers and ethnic props, or we can plan a serene temple visit for those classic, golden hour portraits that highlight the beauty of your saree and the significance of this phase.
Your Traditional Pregnancy Journey
Pregnancy is a time of deep personal significance, and many families want to document this phase while staying rooted in their cultural traditions. I offer two distinct ways to capture this.
Temple Portraits If you prefer an outdoor setting, we can visit a quiet, architectural temple. These locations provide a majestic backdrop that complements a traditional saree beautifully. I focus on natural, candid moments here—a quiet walk, a gentle embrace, or just you taking in the surroundings. It feels authentic and peaceful.
The Studio Seemantha Experience Not everyone wants to travel or deal with the unpredictability of outdoor weather. My studio in Bilekahalli is set up to bring the traditional vibe indoors. I use authentic elements like marigold garlands, brass lamps, and rich, solid-colored backdrops to create a look that feels just like a traditional ceremony. It is a controlled, comfortable environment where you can relax, change outfits easily, and take your time.
Practical Tips for Your Shoot
- Wardrobe: Traditional sarees, especially silks in deep reds, yellows, or purples, photograph incredibly well. If you have a family heirloom saree you want to wear, please bring it along.
- Timing: The best time for maternity photos is usually between the 7th and 8th month. You will have a visible bump, but you will still be comfortable enough to move around.
- Accessories: Minimalist gold jewelry often complements the traditional theme better than heavy costume jewelry, as it keeps the focus on you and your baby bump.
- Inclusivity: You are welcome to include your partner or immediate family in these shots. I ensure the poses feel natural, focusing on the connection between you rather than just standing and smiling for the camera.
