About Artistic & Monochrome Portraits
Choosing monochrome isn't just about color; it is about highlighting your silhouette. I use specific studio lighting setups to create those deep shadows and high-contrast highlights you see in these photos. If you are planning this shoot, I recommend skipping the busy patterns and opting for a simple, solid-colored gown or bodycon dress to let the form and textures tell your story.
When we remove color from a frame, we stop looking at the background and start looking at the person. That is why I love these artistic monochrome portraits for maternity shoots. It turns your pregnancy journey into a piece of art that feels timeless.
Why go monochrome?
In my Bilekahalli studio, we use controlled lighting to sculpt your profile. This style works exceptionally well if you want to celebrate the shape of the baby bump or the curves of your silhouette. It removes distractions, keeping the viewer's eye exactly where it should be—on your expression and your bump.
Preparing for your session
- Wardrobe: For these portraits, I recommend solid, neutral colors like black, white, or deep grey. Avoid heavy prints or distracting accessories. A simple, fitted bodycon dress or one of my studio gowns works best because the fabric drapes cleanly against your skin.
- Posing: We focus on slow, deliberate movements. Since we are playing with shadows, even a slight tilt of the head or a shift in how you hold your hands makes a huge difference in the final image.
- Comfort: We keep the studio session quiet and relaxed. This is not about rushing through poses; it is about finding the angles that make you feel strong and graceful.
If you want a maternity photoshoot that feels elegant and focuses on the quiet power of motherhood, this is the right style for you. Let's talk about the look you want to achieve.
