About Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning
We see every space as a living story. Whether it’s a crowded city corner or a tucked-away home garden, I want it to have a vibe—a heartbeat, not just structure.
How We Design
For us, landscape architecture is more than greenery. We mix local traditions with what’s comfortable today, making places that actually work for people. No just plonking plants everywhere. It’s more like tying together memories, culture and nature, so the space feels both familiar and fresh.
City Spaces, People Places
We get a big kick out of transforming busy junctions and dull corners into urban oases. Like at K.R. Circle, Bengaluru—where we brought in a central fountain, an open library, plenty of seating and green gardens. Suddenly, it’s not just a traffic spot but a hangout, a breather. That’s what community-centric public realm design means to us.
Your Own Patch
Outdoor living space integration matters at home too. From a Tulsi Katte (sacred home garden) that blends rituals into daily life, to a Jaali Shadow Driveway that plays with sunlight—these are all about making your outdoors feel like yours. Simple, but special.
Our Process
It’s never just our ideas. We start with sketches, plenty of back-and-forth, and yes, practical chats like, “madam, budget yenu?” (what’s the budget?). We’re there, rain or shine, until the last plant goes in.
Our Style
We lean on vernacular elements—think clay bricks, terracotta, and old-school details—but always with an eye toward comfort and sustainability. We love that dance of light and shadow too. Every bit, meant to be lived in.

My Story
Hey, we’re AKAR Design Studio. Some days you’ll find us in muddy boots, dodging Bengaluru rains, other days we’re flying across India chasing that spark of inspiration. We love sharing our work with students and young designers, because design is more than drawings—it’s ideas, feelings, and a bit of chaos. For us, the real reward isn’t awards, it’s seeing your dream space come alive. Design’s a journey, and we’re always up for the ride.
