Traditional Folk & Tribal Art
I explore the beauty of traditional Indian and global art forms through a meditative lens. Each hand-painted piece reflects my ongoing journey with Warli, Madhubani, and tribal motifs.
This is my first attempt at a Madhubani motif, featuring a fish and lotus. I am still learning this beautiful art form, and I am presenting this piece with a humble heart as I begin my journey into Madhubani painting.
A close-up of my Warli art piece, a traditional folk art style from Maharashtra. I love creating the simple, geometric shapes that depict a story, here showing people dancing around a central peacock motif.
My completed African tribal art painting, showcased in natural light. This large A2 piece is filled with vibrant colors and patterns, telling a story of community and culture.
The full view of my circular Warli painting. This art form uses basic geometric shapes to create a beautiful narrative of social life, and I find the process of creating it very meditative.
A work in progress video of my African tribal art. Here you can see the intricate details and patterns on the clothing and pottery coming to life with color.
Another look at the creation process of the African art piece. I used a mix of acrylics, pencil colors, and markers to build up the layers of color and detail.
The very beginning stages of my African art project. This video shows the initial outlines and blocking of figures before the colors and patterns are added.
About Folk & Traditional Art
When I paint traditional art forms like Warli or Madhubani, I treat the process as a form of meditation. I work on heavyweight 300 GSM watercolor paper, using a mix of acrylics, waterproof inks, and metallic pens. Every line is hand-drawn, and my focus is on capturing the authentic rhythm of these cultural stories rather than perfect, mass-produced symmetry.
I am always exploring new cultural art forms. My Madhubani motifs and Warli paintings are created with deep respect for their origins. Whether it is a geometric Warli design from Maharashtra or a colorful African tribal scene, I use 300 GSM material to ensure the artwork lasts. I seal every piece with a protective varnish coat, so it remains dust-resistant. Since I paint these entirely by hand, you will see the subtle, human variations in the lines that give handmade art its soul. I currently provide these unframed, which allows you to choose a frame that best matches your home interior. If you have a specific story or a traditional motif in mind, I am happy to discuss how we can bring it to life on canvas.
R.K. Ajjuarts
I have been painting since my school days and treat every canvas as a way to connect with the divine. I am not an expert who knows it all, but I am a student of art who pours honest, meditative effort into every Warli or Madhubani piece I create.
