Ditch the weekend routine. Our Coastal Karnataka trips take you from the serene backwaters of Honnavara to the golden sands of Gokarna, all with a group that feels like family by Sunday.

A serene moment on a boat in the beautiful backwaters of Honnavara. This mangrove forest is a hidden gem on our coastal Karnataka tour.

This is what visiting Gokarna with us looks like: serene beaches, the majestic Murudeshwar statue, and peaceful backwater cruises.

About Coastal Karnataka: Beaches & Backwaters

We don't just drop you at a beach and leave. On these trips, our Tempo Traveller departs Bangalore around 9:00 PM on Friday, letting you wake up to the sea breeze. We arrange beachside tent stays, which means basic clean bedding and shared facilities, so come prepared to swap luxury hotels for starry nights and group stories by the campfire.

The Coastal Experience

Our Coastal Karnataka itinerary isn't a race to tick off spots. It is a mix of exploration and downtime. We start by hitting the road from Bangalore on Friday night, usually reaching our base camp by Saturday morning.

What to expect on this route:

  • Gokarna Beaches: We explore the coastline beyond the tourist traps, finding spots to relax and soak in the sun.
  • Murudeshwar: We make time to visit the iconic Shiva statue. Seeing it against the backdrop of the Arabian Sea is the highlight for most of our travelers.
  • Honnavara Backwaters: This is where we slow down. Drifting through the mangroves on a boat is the perfect contrast to the lively beach vibes.
  • Mirjan Fort: We often stop at this historic landmark, where the moss-covered stone walls and ancient history make for great group photos and a bit of exploration.

Practical Details

We keep things real and budget-friendly. You will be staying in homestays or beach tents on a triple or quad-sharing basis. While we handle the logistics, entry fees, and travel, keep in mind that lunches are self-sponsored at local cafes, giving you the freedom to try local seafood or whatever catches your eye. This trip is designed for people who want to meet new faces, share a tempo traveller ride, and experience the coast without the hassle of planning every detail themselves.

We started Adventure Buddha because we were tired of boring weekends. We aren't a typical travel agency with rigid schedules; we just gather a group of like-minded people, head out from Bangalore, and let the coastal vibe take over.
