Dance is more than performance. It is abhyasa (practice), discipline, and deep-rooted heritage. Take a look at the training, rehearsals, and personal moments that breathe life into our classical routines.

A typical practice day can be a bit chaotic and lazy, but we always find our rhythm. Here's a fun, candid look at a rehearsal for a Mohanakalyani Thillana.

About this collection

Most of the magic you see on stage happens right here on the studio floor, amidst long practice sessions and the shared focus of our ensemble. Whether we are drilling Karanas for a Bharathanatyam recital or coordinating group formations for a grand production, the intensity behind the scenes is what ensures the grace you see in the final performance.

For us at Natyanjali School of Dance, the performance is only half the story. The rest is found in the hours of abhyasa (practice) in the studio.

Our Approach to Dance

We believe that classical dance is a lifelong commitment. Our rehearsal process focuses on precision, starting with the basics of rhythm and posture. Whether preparing for an intimate Bharathanatyam solo or a grand Abhinava Dance Company production like 'Goverdhan Leela', we prioritize group coordination and stamina.

Preserving Tradition

Our process is deeply influenced by our parampara (tradition). You will often see us practicing in traditional sarees; for us, getting comfortable in the costume is part of the training. This helps us understand how the fabric moves, ensuring that when we step on stage, the attire feels like a natural extension of our bodies rather than a constraint.

Team Dynamics

Collaboration is at the heart of our work. Our productions, such as our recent US tour for 'Krishnaa', rely on the combined energy of our team. From the Kathak students just starting their journey to the seasoned artists in our ensemble, every individual brings a unique spark to the studio. If you are looking for choreography or dance training in Bangalore, you are joining a space where hard work meets the joy of storytelling.
