Modern Saree Editorials in Mumbai
Forget stiff, plastic-looking portraits. We capture the real you—raw, cinematic, and soulful. Whether it's the golden hour or a gritty Mumbai street, your saree story gets the focus it deserves.
An intimate portrait using a mirror to tell a story of self-reflection. The soft, natural light from the window highlights the texture of the saree and creates a gentle, film-like mood.
A behind-the-scenes look transitioning to the final shots from a rooftop saree session. This shows how we capture the perfect golden hour light to create warm, glowing portraits.
A classic portrait with the iconic Gateway of India in the background. This shot combines traditional attire with a landmark Mumbai location for a timeless feel.
This cinematic reel follows a model through Mumbai's streets and train stations. It showcases how I blend fashion photography with storytelling to create a moving editorial.
Capturing candid moments in unexpected places. This shot uses a Mumbai auto-rickshaw as a prop, adding a layer of authentic city life to this traditional saree portrait.
A black and white cinematic reel focusing on the details of a mirror-work blouse and the flow of the saree. This demonstrates how monochrome can be used to emphasize texture, light, and emotion.
A series from an outdoor shoot, using a rustic green door as a complementary background for the red and white saree. These images show how I use color theory and natural environments to compose a shot.

About Modern Saree Editorials
I don't believe in over-editing your features. You want skin that looks like skin and fabric that flows naturally. Whether we are shooting on a rooftop or in a crowded market, I guide you on micro-expressions so the final images feel like a frame from a movie, not a catalog.
My Approach to Saree Photography
Modern saree photography shouldn't feel like a chore. It is about the photos lene ki sensation—the thrill of getting it right in-camera. I use a Sony A73 with a Tamron 28-75, playing with depth of field to make the subject pop against Mumbai’s textures.
The Process
For these editorials, I focus on the drape, the texture, and the emotion. We might use hard, direct flash for an edgy, editorial look or stick to soft natural window light if we’re shooting indoors. Every shoot is a collaboration.
- Pre-Shoot Consultation: We will talk about mood boards and wardrobe. If you are worried about posing, don't be. I guide you through every look, keeping it candid and unforced.
- Location Scouting: We can shoot across Mumbai—from the colonial architecture in Colaba to the chaos of Dadar. Every location adds to the narrative.
- Editing Philosophy: No plastic skin, no fake filters. I edit to enhance the mood using classic colour grading, focusing on rich greens or moody, cinematic tones.
If you want a saree editorial that actually looks like a human wearing it, and not a filtered advertisement, we’ll get along just fine.
Aakash
Hey, I’m Aakash. I shoot hoomans, not mannequins. If you want a saree editorial that captures a real mood rather than a staged look, we’ll get along just fine.
