About Group Illustrations & Custom Products
When you are commissioning a group piece, you rarely have one perfect photo where everyone is looking at the camera. I use digital pre-processing to merge individual portraits into a single, balanced composition. This means we can include everyone in the final artwork, even if they were never in the same room together.
Creating a group illustration is more about the story of the people than just capturing their features. Whether it is a farewell gift for juniors or a family keepsake, my process focuses on harmony.
My Approach to Group Art
- Photo Merging: Send me your individual reference photos. I arrange them to create a natural, cohesive look, ensuring the scale and lighting between subjects feel consistent.
- Design & Application: While these illustrations make beautiful A2-sized prints for a wall, we can also apply the design to functional items like tote bags. It turns a piece of art into a daily memory.
- Materials: For group portraits, I use high-GSM archival paper that handles the intricate detail required for multiple faces. If we are doing a poster-style or graphic piece, I opt for gouache or poster colors to keep the look vibrant.
Everything I create is sealed with a matte fixative to prevent smudging and ensure longevity. If you are in Bengaluru, I provide a frame to complete the piece. For my outstation clients, I pack the work carefully in rigid tubes to ensure it arrives exactly as it left my desk.
