About First Piercings for Children
Forget everything you have heard about piercing guns. We strictly use a single-use sterile needle for every child, which allows for a cleaner, more precise channel and significantly faster healing. It is a quick, controlled motion—often done before your child even realizes what is happening. We keep the environment calm, let them pick a fun stud, and ensure the entire experience remains comfortable for both of you.
Why We Say No to Piercing Guns
Many parents are surprised when we refuse to use a piercing gun. These devices force a blunt stud through the tissue, causing unnecessary trauma to the earlobe. Our method, the manual hollow needle, creates a smooth channel without the impact. It is quieter, cleaner, and much less painful, which is exactly what a first-timer needs.
The Right Age for a First Piercing
We typically recommend waiting until your child is between 4 and 6 months old. At this stage, they are less likely to pull at the jewellery, and they are old enough to have received their initial vaccinations. If you are nervous, do not worry—we have seen thousands of 'gattu' (little ones) over the last four decades. We handle the process with patience and care, and we encourage you to stay close to provide comfort.
Aftercare Made Simple
We use 925 sterling silver studs for all first piercings. Silver is hypoallergenic and keeps the site clean, reducing the risk of infection.
- Keep it clean: Use simple soap and water.
- Hands off: Please discourage your child from touching the new earring.
- Be patient: Keep the initial studs in for at least 6 weeks for lobes to ensure the channel heals properly.
