About Sundowners, Brunches & Day Parties
Daytime events demand a delicate touch with transitions. I don't just blast music; I read the room. We start with down-tempo or Latin house to keep the conversation flowing while guests enjoy their drinks, and as the sun dips, I naturally ramp up the ENERGY to turn your brunch into a proper dancefloor moment.
A daytime event is a marathon, not a sprint. Whether you are hosting a laid-back Sunday brunch or a high-octane sunset session, the music needs to evolve with your guests. Over the last 20 years, I have learned that the secret to a successful day party is tempo management.
The Progression Strategy
For a 4-hour brunch session, I follow a specific progression. We start with 'Downtempo' and 'Organic House'—this provides a sophisticated background for dining and socializing. As the afternoon progresses, I introduce 'Funky' and 'Afro House' to bridge the gap. By the time the sun is low, I shift into the 'Peak Time' sound, utilizing high-energy commercial or house tracks that get the crowd moving.
Why Technical Prep Matters
Day parties often feature outdoor or rooftop acoustics which can be tricky. I always arrive 45 minutes early for a soundcheck to tune the booth monitors and PA system for the venue's specific layout. For your event, I bring a specialized library of Latin House and Deep Melodic tracks that are distinct from standard club sets. If you want a specific vibe, I am also happy to do custom 'crate digging' based on your preferred genre—be it old-school Hip-Hop for a Saturday noon party or Melodic House for a corporate sundowner.
Logistics to Keep in Mind
To deliver this, I require a standard industry-setup: Pioneer CDJs (NXS2 or 3000 series) and a professional mixer. If we are outdoors, the console area must be shaded to protect the equipment. I do not just play a playlist; I adapt to your crowd's live reaction, ensuring the energy never drops.

I’ve been behind the decks for over 20 years, from the packed staircases of old-school Fuga to the rooftop sunsets at Mirage today. For me, day parties aren't background noise. They’re about reading your guests and knowing exactly when to shift from smooth, chilled grooves to total dancefloor ENERGY.
