Permanent Sanctuary Residents at VOSD
For dogs who have been abandoned, abused, or left with nowhere else to go, we offer a place to call home forever. Our sanctuary is not just about survival, it is about dignity for every dog in our care.
Bella's story is heartbreaking. She was abandoned three times by her owner but kept returning. After a failed rehoming attempt, her rescuer turned to us. Bella now lives at the VOSD sanctuary, where she will never have to suffer again.
Barood, a beautiful Labrador with epilepsy, was abandoned. After treatment, multiple adoption attempts failed, and he was surrendered to us. He now lives happily at the VOSD sanctuary, surrounded by humans and dogs who love him.
About Our Sanctuary Residents
You might notice that our residents are not typically listed for adoption. Many of the dogs here come to us because they are senior, have chronic medical conditions like epilepsy or blindness, or have severe trauma that makes them unadoptable by conventional standards. When a dog enters our sanctuary, we take full responsibility for their lifetime medical needs, nutrition, and emotional security. This is their permanent home.
When we say 'no-kill sanctuary', we mean it. We serve as the final stop for over 1,800 dogs who have been failed by the world.
Why these dogs stay with us
Most of our residents are considered 'unadoptable'. They may require daily medication, suffer from physical disabilities, or have behavioral needs that make a standard family home environment unsafe or unsustainable for them. We have built our infrastructure in Bangalore specifically to handle these complexities, from open enclosures for mobility-impaired dogs to specialized wings for those with ongoing health conditions.
The Lifetime Sanctuary Surrender
For guardians who can no longer care for a dog due to terminal illness, extreme age-related needs, or inability to manage severe behavioral issues, we offer a formal surrender program. This is not a shelter where dogs wait for a new owner. This is a one-time guardianship transfer. Once a dog is under our care, we handle:
- Full Medical Oversight: Lifetime vet care, including emergency surgery and long-term medication management.
- Dietary Stability: Human-grade, cooked meals provided daily.
- Human Engagement: Interaction with our staff who are trained to handle trauma survivors.
We provide a life of dignity, not pity. If you are struggling with the care of a dog who has nowhere else to turn, you can discuss the requirements for surrender with our team directly. We are here to ensure that no dog is left behind.
Voice of Stray Dogs
We do not run a standard shelter. We build homes for the dogs that the rest of the world has given up on. If you are looking for a place where your dog will be safe, medically cared for, and treated with respect until the end, we are here to help.
