Visualising a massive canvas in your home can be tricky. We use these setups to show how a single statement piece can anchor an entire room, whether it is a modern living area or a quiet reading corner.

About Art in Your Space

The rule of thumb for large spaces is simple: don't let the art get lost. A 5x3 or 6x4 feet statement piece works best when you give it breathing room. Keep the furniture below the canvas simple—a low-profile sofa or a console table works better than a busy display shelf—so the heavy Impasto textures on the canvas actually pop and set the mood for the entire room.

Choosing the Right Scale

Buying art for your home often feels like a guessing game. Will it overpower the room? Will it get lost on a large wall? When I create my 4x5 or 5x6 feet pieces, I am not just painting a subject; I am thinking about how that painting interacts with the architecture of your room. Large abstract canvases or iconic portraits need space to breathe. If you have high ceilings, vertical orientation is your friend. If you have a wide, expansive wall, horizontal layouts can pull the entire room together.

Texture and Light

My process involves heavy-body acrylics and palette knives, creating deep ridges that catch the light differently throughout the day. In the morning, the light might highlight the peaks of the paint; in the evening, the shadows define the movement. When you place one of these pieces, think about the natural light source in your room. Avoid placing them directly opposite harsh, glary windows if you want to enjoy the subtle variations in texture.

Art as an Investment

I often tell visitors at our Bangalore gallery that you should buy art that you will want to look at for 400 years. My work is built to last with museum-grade varnish, ensuring that your investment isn't just about decor—it's about adding real value to your home.

How to Decide

If you are unsure whether a piece fits, I recommend taping out the dimensions on your wall with masking tape. Walk away, sit on your sofa, look at the space from the doorway. It helps you see the actual physical footprint of the painting. If you are still on the fence, come visit us at the Indiranagar gallery. Seeing the paintings in person, standing 6 feet away from a 5-foot canvas, changes the conversation entirely.
