About Portraits in Traditional Attire
When shooting in traditional attire, we focus on natural movement rather than static posing. We encourage walking, turning, and interacting to ensure the heavy embroidery and fabric of your outfit look dynamic in your photos, not stiff. If your attire is particularly intricate, we select locations with neutral, soft-toned backgrounds to ensure the focus stays entirely on the details of your garment and your connection.
Traditional attire adds a layer of depth to pre-wedding photography, but it requires a different approach than casual wear. Our sessions are designed to handle heavy lehengas, sherwanis, and sarees by prioritizing comfort and fluid movement. We avoid stiff poses that can make traditional clothing look awkward, opting instead for candid frames that show the richness of the fabric and the vibrancy of the colours.
Handling Ethnic Wear
We understand that your wedding outfits are a significant investment. During these sessions, we provide assistance with outfit management—whether it is ensuring a dupatta is draped perfectly or catching the motion of a lehenga during a twirl. Our goal is to make your ethnic wear look as majestic as it does in person.
Lighting for Texture
Traditional Indian wear often features zari work, intricate embroidery, and sequins. These elements react beautifully to soft, natural lighting. We schedule our sessions during the golden hour to ensure the light catches these textures without causing harsh glares or flat images. This timing also provides the warm, cinematic glow that characterises our signature style.
Location Planning
Whether you are wearing heavy bridal wear at a luxury resort in Goa or contemporary ethnic pieces in an urban setting, we choose backdrops that complement your attire. We look for clean, lush, or architectural environments that provide a contrast to your outfit, ensuring you stand out in every frame. If you have a specific venue in mind, we plan our angles to align with the location's aesthetic, creating a cohesive visual story.
The Picture Patch
At The Picture Patch, we believe traditional attire is a story in itself. We don't ask you to stand still; we follow your lead, capturing the way you move and connect while dressed in your finest, ensuring the culture and your personality shine through.
